Fragile Chairs

Language Used / Song

Mandarin
Hakka
The chair on the water surface quietly hints at a realm that denies the human entry. It is a medium that manifests various phenomena and the existence of invisible creatures in the landscape. What is the invisible existence that we try to perceive here? It could perhaps be the pure thoughts of insects and animals, or the souls cast outside of society by the human unconscious.
CREATORS
Hidemi Nishida

"Hidemi NISHIDA
Hidemi Nishida (b. 1986) was born in Otaru City in Hokkaido, Japan, and currently lives and works in Tokyo. He studied design in Sapporo, and obtained his MFA at Bergen Academy of Art and Design in Norway. His architectural background brings together functional making with an interest in intimate transformations of our environment. His structures create a presence but are also ephemeral, often using reclaimed or found materials to create a bricolage of references to place, time and memory. Nishida questions our milieu, deconstructing and adapting existing structures or materials or even whole landscapes in order to refresh our view of the world. At the same time, his practice is dedicated to social activities that prompt people’s thinking and re-direct their attention to the colorful world.
